tumblr: that thing you like is Problematic and you should feel bad for liking it
me, an adult capable of critical thinking and criticizing things while still wholeheartedly enjoying them: please get out of my living room

i love when people are passionate about a certain character, like really passionate about them bc then i start associating them with that character and then the character reminds me of them and i’ll just be looking through my dash and then suddenly i’ll think about them

i think 1999 bellamy had such a pretty crackling voice and since i’m home alone singin i love that i sound like showbiz era bellamy. what a cutie. i wanna b a cutie… but also i love my stupid crackly boy voice lmfao.

do not move to an east asian country so that you can fulfill your disgusting fantasy of indulging in a twisted and westernized version of what you perceive that country’s culture to be like. do not move there for the sole reason of having a better chance to see a celebrity that you like. do not get a job in education as an excuse for your move. don’t.

east asian countries do not exist for your enjoyment. they are real countries, with real people, and real problems. east asian coutnries are not your “dream land” of what you think that they are. they are not ~cool places to eat cool foods in while enjoying cool culture~. they are countries that actively face major societal issues and regional issues. they are more than the popular media/entertainment exported from them. and if you cannot understand that, you should not set foot there.

if ur not east asian you can reblog

“You can criticize something you love!”

Yeah, and you can also get tired of criticizing something you love. You can get completely fed up with it and decide, “You know what? Flaws aside, I love this thing, and I don’t have to waste hours of my life admitting its flaws to strangers on the Internet in order to somehow justify my love of it.” You can get sick of watching others gleefully tear it apart, for no reason other than that it’s popular and they hate that you love it. You can get sick of watching others tearing it apart with good intentions, too.

In the end, it’s just a cartoon, or a book, or a movie. It’s not that serious, and you can enjoy it without hyper-focusing on its flaws. You don’t need to justify your love of something to someone else, least of all a person you don’t even know.

And on the opposite end, you don’t have to have some extreme reason to dislike something either! You don’t have to nitpick everything to justify you not liking it! Sometimes you just don’t like something, and there isn’t some ulterior reasoning behind it. Not everything has to be problematic to not appeal to someone
